sleep problems insomniaLooking for an insomnia doctor or insomnia treatment? Sleep problems and insomnia could have many roots. With integrative medicine for insomnia, we investigate the underlying causes of sleep problems, and address them clinically. With integrative medicine for insomnia, we don’t suppress the symptom, or medicate. Instead, we look at the the underlying causes of insomnia or sleep problems to see which ones are present. Then we can take a targeted approach to the underlying problems of insomnia, or the inability to stay asleep.

I’ll spare you the boring statistics of sleep problems and insomnia. All you need to know is that there is a treatment solution for you, but it might not be immediate. The integrative medicine process is not like taking a fast acting drug.

The goal is for long-term change. Therefore, it may take a few visits with the integrative doctor for you to get a good night’s sleep. Traditional herbalists and healers used to say: The body doesn’t heal by order of chief complaint, it unwinds naturally. So, as your health improves, we might have to wait until your condition unwinds enough to become healthy again. Then, your normal sleep patterns should return.

Insomnia from stress

Insomnia in children can be from stress as well as other factors. There is a wonderfully gentle chiropractic technique which can help take the charge off of stress. It’s called neuro emotional technique. We used it recently with an 11 year old boy who had months of persistent insomnia from stress. Additionally, we found two other factors that were part of his underlying condition and addressed those too. I’m happy to report that the child showed immediate improvement. His mother said she was skeptical at first, but saw the return to normal the night after his office visit. He only came in once. It was a “one visit wonder.” It was like the textbook “miracle cure.” Even I thought it would probably take about 3 office visits to see such dramatic results. His immediate sleep improvement was amazing.

Sleep problems from frequent urination

“It’s not my sleep quality, it’s my Bladder.” Frequent urination is a disruptor of normal sleep duration. A majority of people think that waking up several times at night to go pee is normal. It’s not. There are reasons why you have to wake at night to urinate. It is not because you have an “overactive bladder,” or sensitive bladder. The overactive bladder concept puts the emphasis on the wrong part. The bladder is not the underlying problem.

Sleep problems from night sweats

Do you wake up because you get hot and sweaty? There are causes for that, so no, it is not just a normal part of menopause or getting older in women or men. We have to get beyond excuses and blaming it on age. There are reasons at the root of night sweats. We will address the reasons so that you can sleep better. When you become my patient, my goal for you is to become healthy again and get a good night’s sleep.
