Insomnia may have many roots. Do you wake up tired in the morning? Do you feel unrested? Want your energy back? Want better sleep? With integrative medicine for insomnia treatment, we investigate the underlying causes so you can sleep better.
Integrative medicine for insomnia treatment
We go beyond suppressing the sleepless symptom. Instead, we look at the the underlying causes of insomnia or sleep problems to see which causes are present. Then we can take a targeted treatment approach to the underlying causes of insomnia, including the inability to stay asleep.
I’ll spare you the boring statistics of sleep problems and insomnia. All you need to know is that there is an insomnia treatment solution for you, but it might not be immediate. The integrative medicine process is not like taking a fast acting drug. Sedation via drugs is not quality sleep.
The goal is for long-term change. Therefore, it may take a few visits with the integrative doctor for you to get a good night’s sleep. Be patient. Traditional herbalists and healers used to say: The body doesn’t heal by order of chief complaint, it unwinds naturally. So, with your treatment, we might have to wait until your condition unwinds enough for you to become healthy again. Then, your normal sleep patterns should return.
We can treat insomnia from stress
Insomnia in children can be from stress as well as other factors. There is a wonderfully gentle chiropractic technique which can help take the “charge” off of stress. It’s called neuro emotional technique. We used it recently with an 11 year old boy who had months of persistent insomnia from stress. Additionally, we found two other factors that were part of his underlying condition and addressed those too. I’m happy to report that the child showed immediate improvement. His mother said she was skeptical at first, but saw the return to normal the night after his office visit. He only came in once. It was a “one visit wonder.” It was like the textbook “miracle cure.” Even I thought it would probably take about 3 office visits to see such dramatic results. His immediate sleep improvement was amazing.
Sleep interruption from frequent urination
“It’s not my sleep quality, it’s my Bladder.” Frequent urination is a disruptor of normal sleep duration. A majority of people think that waking up several times at night to go pee is normal. It’s not. You need uninterrupted sleep. There are reasons why you have to wake at night to urinate. It is not because you have an “overactive bladder,” or sensitive bladder. The overactive bladder concept puts the emphasis on the wrong part. The bladder is not the underlying problem, it’s just another symptom.
Sleep apnea treatment
Interrupted sleep from sleep apnea, or snoring, contributes to fatigue and brain fog. There are integrative methods to address sleep apnea and the effects of sleep apnea. The treatments are based on your health history and our physical exam, and can include functional medicine or chiropractic methods. Our goal is less sleep interruption, and better sleep.
Can’t sleep from night sweats
Do you wake up because you get hot and sweaty? There are causes for that, so no, it is not just a normal part of aging in women or men. We have to get beyond excuses and blaming it on age. There are reasons at the root of night sweats. We will address the reasons so that you can sleep better. When you become my patient, my goal for you is to become healthy again and get a good night’s sleep.
